The Chair and Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Zehra Jaffer as headteacher (subject to contract) to succeed Annie Gammon in 2019. Zehra is a highly experienced secondary school deputy head who has over fifteen years’ record of leading improvement in schools in Hackney and elsewhere. Zehra, who champions inclusion and comprehensive, community education, impressed the governors with her values-driven approach, her commitment to the highest achievement for all students and her collaborative, team-focused approach to management and school improvement.

Zehra will join the school in January 2019 from the Skinners' Academy in Hackney, where she is currently Senior Vice-Principal. Annie Gammon becomes Hackney’s Director of Education in September this year, at which point we will welcome Mark Bynoe, currently a deputy head at Stoke Newington, as acting headteacher for the term.

Governors would like to thank all those in the school: students, staff and parents and the Hackney Learning Trust for their involvement in the extensive and rigorous recruitment process over the past few weeks. We are looking forward to working with Mark and Zehra in the months and years ahead.

Crispin Truman, Chair of Governors – on behalf of the Governing Body.
