Dear students and parents/carers,

I am writing to inform you that we are going to have a change of headteacher at Stoke Newington School over the coming months. I’m sure you will want to join me, the governors and staff of the school to thank Ms Gammon for all her work with our school over the last ten years and her leadership at a time in which the school’s students have achieved so much. Congratulations are also due to Ms Gammon for her new role as Director of Education: Head of Hackney Learning Trust from 1st September 2018. We wish her well for the new role and are delighted she is still going to be working in our community. Ms Gammon is fully in role as headteacher until the end of this term: the school will run completely as usual during this time and subsequently.

We will start looking for a new headteacher who will continue the excellent work of our school and lead us forward. We will expect them to be fully committed to our values as a high achieving, creative and inclusive 11- 19 comprehensive school. Governors will be undertaking the recruitment process later this term: we plan for representative groups of students, staff and parents to be involved in some aspects of this, while governors retain the overall responsibility. We will keep you all informed about this. There will be an opportunity for parents/carers to get updates and ask questions at the parents’ forum on Thursday 7th June at 7pm. Thank you for your ongoing support for and engagement with our school.

Best wishes, Crispin Truman Chair of Governors – on behalf of the Governing Body
