So you’ve got your exam results back…and they weren’t quite the grades you wanted. You’ve had a cry and now it’s like okay what do i do now? Where can i go? what do i actually want to do? Am i going College? Do i wanna do an Apprenticeship? Do i want to work? So many questions! Help…

And guess what, help is right here!

Figuring out what to do after exams sounds like it should be pretty straight forward, but its far from that…and there’s a lot of things that could influence your decision, one of those being your grades.

Exams are hard and sometimes we don’t get the grades we wanted or expected, but that doesn’t mean the end of the story… there’s loads of alternative routes that you can go down to get to what you actually want to be doing! So dust yourself off, pick yourself up and lets get it!

To help you find those alternative routes Young Hackney will be hosting a careers festival on Thursday 30 August to encourage and support young people aged 16-20 who are unsure about their next steps on the careers ladder after results day.

The event will offer one-to-one expert support and professional guidance as well as a chance to find out about the courses on offer from local colleges including Bsix, City of Islington, New City College and City Gateway. There will also be over 20 training providers in attendance offering information about opportunities in a variety of specialisms and industries such as fashion, construction, arts, hospitality, horticulture, media and many more.

You will also be able to find out about Hackney Council’s award-winning apprenticeship programme, ask questions and register your interest for future vacancies. AND there will be a free refreshments and a prize draw for all young people who attend.

So if you need some help with your next steps make use of this opportunity and come down to Hackney Town Hall on 30 August.

You’ll leave feeling better about your options, we promise.
