Dear parents/carers,

Stoke Newington School is 35 years old…

Our school was brought together on its current site in 1982 – forming from a merge of two previous schools: Clissold and Woodberry Down. Much has changed since – including national education policy, headteachers, teachers, buildings and students. Students who were here in 1982 will now be approaching, or have reached, the age of 50!

I am pleased to inform you that we will be having a number of celebrations to commemorate this over the coming months. These will include current students, past students and current members of our community.

The most high profile event for parents is a Stoke Newington School 35th anniversary gala on Friday 9th March 2018. We will be aiming to celebrate and to raise money for causes which are important to our school and students. The anniversary evening will comprise of reception drinks, a 3 course meal, a silent auction, raffles, awards/presentations, and, of course, a dance. Our gala is being held at Stoke Newington Town Hall.

Details about ticket purchase will be sent out shortly. We are expecting current parents, staff and past students and staff to be attending. You are most welcome to book a table for your party of guests.

At this stage we are also aiming to collect “high ticket” items to be included in the silent auction, and the raffle. Examples of such could be: a few nights stay at a holiday home, art work, experience days, signed sporting items, membership to a club or gym that you use, work experience at your company, gift hampers, ...and so on. Please do consider whether you can donate and let us know.
