Dear Parent/Carer,

Summer Exams Y11 and Y13

Teacher assessed grades will replace the summer examinations. The message from Interim Chief Regulator at Ofqual published today in response to Monday’s government announcement states:

“We know that this is a difficult time for students, their parents and carers, teachers and trainers. Our message to students is this: please continue to engage as fully as you can in your education. That will be online for the majority of students, or face-to-face for those students still going in to their school, college or training provider. This will put you in the best position, whatever arrangements are made for your qualifications. It’s important that teachers and students can focus on the knowledge and skills needed to equip students to progress to the next stage, whatever form that might take – whether to college, an apprenticeship, university or employment.

Our message to Year 11 and Year 13 is that this is the best way forward at such a difficult, disrupted time. It is great so many of you have engaged with online learning and we need you to continue to do so. Summer examinations are just one method of assessing your knowledge and understanding. As we go forward, your teachers will continue to deliver the course content and conduct assessments to enable you to attain grades at GCSE and A level. So, keep on learning and giving your best.

Students who have missed one of their December mocks due to absence, will still be required to sit their mock exam next week as previously advised. As soon as we have more details on the arrangements, we will share this with parent/carers and students.

Remote Learning Parent/Carer Forums

Thank you to all the parent/carers who attended these sessions. We see these sessions as integral in aiding the SNS Home Learning experience for our students and parents. Due to the popularity of the sessions, we are seeking to have weekly parent forums led by your child’s Head of Year or a Senior Pastoral Leader. A schedule of these parent forums will be publicised shortly.

Lateral Flow Tests

Thank you to parents who have completed the Lateral Flow Tests consent forms. Please find further information on the tests attached. You can find the link to the consent form here. Please do complete the consent form even if you do not consent to the testing. By filling in the form now means we can prepare and are ready for return of all students.

Free School Meals

All parents eligible for free school meals should have received a text message on how to access the voucher scheme and an email. If you need further advice or support, please email len.lab@sns.hackney.sch.uk or admin@sns.hackney.sch.uk.

Stay safe.
