“Friends of SNS” is the Parent Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) for Stoke Newington School and Sixth Form. If you have a child at the school, you are automatically a member. Our goal is to make every parent and carer feel welcome, and that they are part of a community around the school.
As well as building a sense of community, one of the key things we do is raise funds to help the school. In normal times, that could include all sorts of real-world events: a quiz, an international food fair, a variety show put on by students – you name it, we are open to all ideas!
Right now, though - and since the start of the coronavirus pandemic - our primary focus is helping the school buy laptops and other technology (dongles or headsets) so all SNS students can join in with learning online.
Our GoFundMe campaign for this is here and all donations are welcome!
We have regular meetings on Zoom, and the invitation to join is sent out by the school to every parent and carer via email and text.
We have a Twitter account. Please do follow us, and retweet updates about our campaign if you would like.
We have a Facebook group. You need to ask to join, but just send us a request and we'll add you on.
Our Chair is: Ann Hepburn
Our Treasurer is: Cara Phillip
We are registered as a Parent Teacher and Friends Association with Parentkind (membership no. 20182) – and are currently in the process of signing up as a charity.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions – or would like to be added to our WhatsApp group, where we talk about things we are organising, do email us on: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Many thanks for reading this – and hopefully we might see you at a (virtual!) meeting soon.
With best wishes
Chair of Friends of SNS
