25th February 2021

Dear Parent/Carer,

HT’s Communication – Week 7

It was lovely seeing so many of you at our weekly year group parent forums and Year 9 Parents’ evening.

As announced on Monday, schools will reopen to the wider school body from Monday 8th March. As you are aware, we are required to administer lateral flow tests to all students twice upon their return to school, these tests will need to be 3 – 5 days apart.

In order to conduct the testing, we will stagger the return of our students and prioritise our examination year groups, whilst all other year groups continue to receive SNS Home Learning.

Proposed Staggered Return

Please find below the proposed staggered return for each year group, we will send further information on allocated testing times to you at the beginning of next week.

Thank you to everyone who has completed the consent form. Please find the link to the consent form here

The Hub provision will continue as normal for our vulnerable and key worker students.

I sincerely thank our parent volunteers helping in our testing arrangements, without whom it would be impossible for us to execute this testing regime and mobilise the school back to face to face teaching as quickly as possible.

Ofqual Consultation Outcome

This morning we learnt the outcome of the Ofqual Teacher Assessed Grades Consultation. It is reassuring to learn that Ofqual has listened in the main to our feedback and we will be using teacher assessed grades determined by a range of evidence. Please find the link to the consultation outcomes using this link.

A reminder that we are holding a special Year 11 and 13 joint forum to discuss the consultation process on Tuesday 2nd March from 2.00pm – 3.00pm. This will be recorded and uploaded to the year group forum folders.

We thank all our parents and students who responded to the consultation.

Please note that there will be no Year 11 or Year 13 forum week beginning 1st March due to the joint forum as above.

As we look forward to the return of normal school routines, we must remain mindful of the safety protocols required to keep our community safe, such as wearing face masks inside the building, regular handwashing and maintaining social distancing as much as possible.

The above parent forums will be focused on supporting a smooth transition back to school. For now, please start to prepare by thinking about daily routines which now need to be re-adapted in readiness for the school timetable so that your child is ready and alert for learning.

Should you have any concerns about this important transition back to school and how your child may fare, then please do contact your child’s Head of Year.

Lastly, I thank each and every one of you for all your support, feedback and wonderful messages. It has helped boost staff morale and really helped shape our SNS Home Learning offer.

I wish you all a lovely weekend when we get there.

With best wishes. Keep well.

Zehra Jaffer
