Year 10 Spanish students visit the Mexican embassy
Student visited to learn more about the Day of the Dead celebration
A group of Y10 Spanish students had the opportunity to visit the Cultural Hub of the Mexican Embassy to learn more about the Day of the Dead celebration.
The students had the chance to meet Dr Nathalie Despas Puel, the Mexican Undersecretary of Tourism, to talk about the cultural importance of the Day of the Dead for Mexicans, and how it has sparked international interest to visit Mexico.
The students also had the opportunity to see an 'Ofrenda' (a decorated offering of food and elements associated with a deceased person) dedicated to the late Mexican writer Juan Rulfo and to explore an Art Exhibition of some posters designed by Mexican artists.
To finish the visit, students were treated to 'Pan de muerto' and hot chocolate, made especially for the occasion by the embassy's chef.
