Family life can sometimes be challenging. Stress, disagreements, changes at home, or relationship difficulties can create tension that affects both young people and adults. While occasional arguments are normal, ongoing conflict can impact emotional wellbeing.

For Parents

Children and teenagers often express difficult feelings through their behaviour. Anger, withdrawal, or arguments can be signs that they are feeling worried, hurt, stressed, or overwhelmed.

To support your child:

  • Stay calm during disagreements.
  • Listen and give them time to express how they feel.
  • Talk about problems when everyone is calm.
  • Set clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Encourage healthy coping strategies such as exercise, relaxation, and talking to trusted adults.

For Students

Arguments and family difficulties can leave you feeling angry, upset, worried, or alone. Remember:

  • It is okay to have these feelings.
  • You are not responsible for solving adult problems.
  • Support is available, and talking to someone can help.
  • If things feel difficult at home, try speaking to a trusted adult, friend, teacher, Head of Year, or a member of the school's pastoral team.

How We Can Help

Our school is here to support students and families experiencing difficulties at home. We can offer:

  • Pastoral and wellbeing support
