Friday the 13th, bad luck for some, and in fact, it was bad luck for the SNS U19 Boys who ended their season with a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Harris Academy, Crystal Palace in the London Schools cup final. A 17-man playing squad and 25 strong supporter squad assembled at midday for the journey down to Sevenoaks FC, the wonderful ground hosting this prestigious final. We went into the game in good form, having only lost twice all season and with all players fully fit. Due to covid-19 pandemic we were the holders of this trophy having won it back in 2019.

Unfortunately, we came out second best having played a very rallying 90mins but without any real goal-scoring threat. Credit to the opposition who were deserved winners, we gave it our all but it wasn’t to be. A unanimous decision in the post-match debrief meant that Sonny Dillon was awarded our Player of the Match for a typically strong, battling and tenacious performance in the middle of the park.

We played 11 games in three competitions over the course of the season losing only three times, scoring 35 and conceding 19. On the long, traffic filled journey home, we reminisced over the games and highlights gone by and awarded the following set of trophies…

Players Player of the Season – Arda Uzonkodalak – a truly outstanding centre-back performance in every single game!

Managers Player of the Season – Silas Stewart Caws – joint top scorer whose 12minute hat trick against St Bonaventures turned the tie upside down and saw us into the semi-final.

Mr Medway’s Hall of Fame inductee – Asa Campbell – the captain and leader of the team. He has been an SNS football stalwart through his seven years here and will go down in my memory as being one of the most gifted I’ve ever seen. A wonderful footballer, and even better man.
